Emily Murphy is a visual artist based in Bismarck. Her most reached-for mediums are acrylic and oil pastel, but she enjoys working with digital mediums, oil paint, and various other textiles and materials. Her process is intentional, personal, and grounded in transforming everyday life into art; she finds beauty and creativity in ordinary objects and practices. Her work is intimate, nostalgic, authentic, and honest with subjects ranging from scenes along I-29 to her dining room to the flowers that bloom around her. Her pieces tend to be bold, detailed, interpretive, often evoking warmth and wonder.
